‘Tis The Season

‘Tis the Season for the annual delousing
So the poor and the pitiful can be paraded
In a perpetual state of transitional housing
While Charities misappropriate funds donated
Commercializing the suffering of the second-rated

An Excerpt from Crossing Main by T J Therien

“What happens when community isn’t what it’s supposed to be? You get the world we have today. Black and white ideology, with blinders on we fail to see the colors because of the spectrum of grey. So wrapped up in our vanity, self-absorbed we let society erode, decay and fall into disarray. Moths feed off the fabric. We build walls, but not of straw, stick or brick, designed to keep the wolf at bay, but it’s only our humanity we keep away. What happens when community isn’t what it’s supposed to be? You get the world we have today.”

The Fatal Flaw

I’ve come to the conclusion
The problem isn’t with Capitalism
Democracy, Communism
Or Socialism, per se
The problem is people
People are corruptible
And power corrupts
But this is nothing new
It just took me this long to come to terms
With a truth I did not want to accept
Societies,
(regardless the political and economic model,)
Are doomed to fail solely because
We cannot remove the one fatal flaw
Us
